This is the success story of a Ukrainian patient successfully operated at Dubai by Dr Senadhipan for removing an uncommon cancer tumor called GIST that had grown in patient’s rectum very close to the anal opening. Surgeons choosing conventional open surgery to do this procedure normally struggle due to limited space available in Human pelvis. However, Dr Senadhipan’s exceptional laparoscopic skills made the surgery much easier for the patient and recovery much quicker. Allow me to express my gratitude for the miracle you have brought to my life.
I was so sick, so weak and was not realizing it until that day in August 2017 that has changed my life.

You did an amazing job with my surgery. Your professionalism, kindness, sincere caring, and concern make everything better and are a great encouragement to me, and I’m sure it is so for all the people who have a chance to meet you.
Everything started in 2017 or maybe even earlier however I was not realizing it or not paying attention to the warning signs my body was giving.
I went on a trip with my friend in October 2016 and had a bit of discomfort after the flight. Thought it was plane food, sandwich that was not digested properly. On the same night I had difficulties with bowel movement and a bit of bleeding. I was on a diet during the whole trip.
Bleeding repeated in December 2016, again I thought I ate something oily or hard. From time to time I had constipation hence decided to follow strict diet, did not eat fried and spicy food.
In June 2017 I was back home in Ukraine, constipation returned, thought the change of cuisine was the reason. My mom insisted on visiting the doctor to check rectum but I refused, was a bit scared as did not want to spend vacation in hospital as had to be back to work in Dubai in 2 weeks. I had a quick check up in one of the hospitals in Ukraine and was given medicine for pancreas as doctor said I have problems with it. I was taking medicine for a month and felt perfect, was able to eat everything.
I was vegetarian, going to the gym, doing yoga and swimming. Never felt any discomfort.
In July 2017 I bought some canned oily fish in supermarket and after that felt very bad, visited gastroenterologist in one of the hospitals in Dubai and was given pills from constipation. I took only one dose on July 25 and in few hours my stomach became very bloated. I was in pain, not able to use washroom, eat or drink anything. I informed the doctor about the same in a day, and after a visit was advised to continue medicine, which I did not. I took sick leave and spent 4 days at home following strict diet.
On August 1st I felt better and returned to work, had proper lunch. Approximately after 2 hours I started having severe rectal bleeding, I was so scared that ran immediately to company clinic. They did checkup, applied dressings and booked appointment with the doctor in another hospital. I took a taxi, however could barely walk and went to see the doctor.
Doctor offered me pills from constipation and asked to come back in a week. I was told that it’s normal situation nowadays and many people have it. In my 28 years I never experienced one. I insisted on physical checkup after which doctor called ambulance and referred me to the hospital for a surgery saying that it was hemorrhoids that has to be removed.
I texted my cousin to bring phone charges and give a call to my mom. I was in emergency room and bleeding repeated again, I felt very hot and started losing consciousness and understood that I was in a critical condition. First aid was provided and bleeding was stopped.

Next day I had a chat with the doctor and was told that they have a suspicion that there was 99% cancer tumor. I did not agree with diagnosis and believed that I’ll be given that 1% of chance to be healed. Tissue was sent to a laboratory for a biopsy test. Doctor informed me that I’ll be transferred to another hospital for a surgery that has to be done as soon as possible.
I spent 5 days in ward of International Modern Hospital, Dubai and on August 8th had a surgery. I knew that Dr. Baiju will be doing my surgery however have not met him yet, only found information about him on hospital Facebook page.
I am also grateful to other two surgeons Dr. Salil Vengsarkar and Dr. Anoop Kumar for their support and care. I knew that everything is happening for the best. I remember I told them that I have no one but God and them and asked to take care of me as I’m still young and want family and children.
Surgery by Dr Baiju went off very well.
After 14 days in hospital from 1st of August I finally arrived home, was little bit scared but at the same time very happy. My mom was always with me, she went through difficult time, but never showed any frustration or depression. She is always positive, but I know she was crying while I was sleeping. Sometimes my family was thinking that that was it.
I visited few oncologists, started taking prescribed medicine as a precaution.
I came across an article on Dr. Baiju’s website, the story of 60 year old lady who overcame rectal cancer. I thought if she could do it, I can do it for sure.
I took 1.5-month rest, then started working from home, after returned to half days in office and in 6 months after the surgery I was back to normal.
The only discomfort and sometimes frustration I had was temporary colostomy bag. The fact that I was not able to wear the clothes I like, go to the beach, do yoga and travel. It took time to adjust and learn how to maintain it. But I had to accept the fact that it was for a certain period of time, it helped me a lot. Everything is in our mind.
I visited Dr. Baiju every month and after every visit I had such inspiration and desire to live. Dr. Baiju has very positive energy that makes you feel stronger. He is like a godfather to me who will always assure that everything is alright.
In April 2018 I had colostomy reversal surgery. I remember Dr. Baiju’s smile as he came into the pre-op area and simply just brought a wave of peace to the room.
I feel relieved. I’m back to normal and every day of my life is better because of you, Dr Baiju.
