SUT Royal Hospital conducted an Anti Obesity Seminar which was attended by about 120 interested audience.
Dr Baiju Senadhipan, Director of TIDDMAS (Trivandrum Institute of Digestive Diseases and Mininmal Access Surgery) at SUT Royal Hospital highlighted importance of lifestyle modifications, appropriate food habits and treatment option for morbidly obese patients by means of Bariatric Surgery. Dr Senadhipan has one of the largest experience in India with more than 500 successful Keyhole Bariatric Surgeries. Bariatric Surgery is not liposuction. It involves reducing size of the stomach by keyhole surgery for restricting food intake.
It helps patients to eat only as much as they need and also helps cure Diabetes and many other cardiac conditions along with weight loss.
Dr Bharat Chandran, renowned cardiologist of and a Director of SUT Royal Hospital also addressed the audience regarding the high risk of blood pressure and heart diseases in obese patients and importance of reducing the weight and balanced food habits.
