Snehardram, a dream project of Dr.Baiju Senadhipan to help economically backward cancer patients, was inaugurated by Padmavibhushan Dr K J Yesudas on 30 January 2017 at Kollam in a grand ceremony.
Snehardram is a joint initiative of Dr Senadhipan, in association with ‘Swaralaya’, a famous organisation in the field of music.
Aim of this charitable project is that no cancer patient should lack access to cancer specialists due to lack of money.
Snehardram is a comprehensive Awareness, Prevention, Early Detection, Treatment and Rehabilitation program to the poor patients in Kerala , because the overloaded Government Centers can not sufficiently support these patients who have to wait their turn for treatment for over six months sometimes. Snehardram aspires to treat at least 1000 needy patients from around Kollam in two years time.
At the Snehardram launch ceremony, Swaralaya announced free surgery for 50 GI Cancer patients by receiving aid from like minded people. Dr Baiju Senadhipan announced that he would fully waive off his surgical fees to treat these poor patients either at his center or at any Government Hospital around Kollam with Keyhole Surgery facilities. Same offer is extended to private hospitals too if they waive off their fees and charges to the patient in need.
Swaralaya is a cultural forum that recognizes the stalwarts of music across India and encourages the young talent. It came into being in the year 2000 on the 60th birthday of Dr.K.J.Yesudas, who is known as Ganagandharva of Kerala. Swaralaya was inaugurated at this occasion by the then Chief Minister of Kerala Sree E.K. Nayanar.
This time on 30th January 2017, Swaralaya had arranged a mega event to felicitate Dr. K.J. Yesudas, immediately after he was conferred the Padmavibhushan, the second highest civilian award of India, on the republic day 26 January 2017. This felicitation was the first official meeting attended by Dr. Yesudas after receiving the Padmavibhushan. Snehardram for the noble cause, was launched a this occasion.
The event also had the presence of other musical stalwarts such as Sree L. Subramaniam, Srimathi Kavitha Subramaniam, renowned music director Sree M. Jayachandran, famous movie actress of yester years Srimathi Sarada, actor Sree Mukesh, CPI (M) politburo member Sree M.M. Baby, well known poet Srimathi Jayageetha, The Kerala State Youth Commission Chairperson Sree Chintha Jerome etc.
“Dr Baiju is the best laparoscopic surgeon of India and probably one of the finest in the world. His experience in laparoscopic cancer surgery such as commonly seen colon cancer, stomach cancer and oesophagial cancer etc is probably the largest in the world. Hence the poor who get to be treated by Dr Baiju due to his charitable initiative Snehardram are really lucky. I wish sincerely wish every luck to Snehardram, Dr Baiju Senadhipan and his team” said one of the senior surgeons who attended the event.
