Kochi: Sunrise Institute of Digestive Diseases the newest initiative of Sunrise Hospital, Kakkanad, envisaged as a global referral centre for complete digestive diseases and complex laparoscopic surgeries was inaugurated by Smt. J. Mercykutty Amma, Minister for Fisheries & Harbor on September 24, 2017 (Sunday) at Town Hall, Ernakulam.
The function was presided-over by Smt. Soumini Jain – Ernakulam Mayor, who also witnessed the launch of ‘Snehardram’ the charity scheme to provide subsidized surgery benefits to financially less-fortunate gastric cancer patients. Mrs. Parveen Hafeez – Managing Director, Sunrise Hospital has given a memento to Smt. J. Mercykutty Amma.
Dr. Baiju Senadhipan – Director, Sunrise Institute of Digestive Diseases gave the introductory speech, and Prof: KV Thomas MP released the news bulletin Sunrise Health Digest. Noted playback singer Madhu Balakrishnan launched the Cancure scheme which is intended to create awareness on GI (Gastro Intestinal) cancer and released the handbook of digestive organs. Dr. KR Prathapkumar – Medical Director, Sunrise Hospital gave the welcome speech and Dr. Rajiv Jayadevan – Deputy Medical Director gave thanksgiving.
To add to the glitter of the inaugural event, there was also Melodies-in-Memories, a Music eve by Mumbai Muhammad Aslam and team.
